A Kansas lottery ticket winner is helping the state’s bottom line. An anonymous Kansan won a nearly $160 million jackpot in a lottery drawing last month. Legislative staffer J.G. Scott told a Senate committee today (TUE) that the win will mean a bump in state income tax collections.
The $8 million in taxes has been added to the revenue estimate lawmakers are using as they write the state budget. Some legislative committees are meeting this week to work on the budget in advance of the Legislature reconvening next week.
