Bombs Found Near KS Statehouse; Threats Made Against Gov

The vehicle where police say they found explosives. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)Police say they found explosives inside a vehicle near the Kansas Statehouse today (WED).  Capitol Police have been investigating at least two security threats.  While checking on an illegally-parked truck, an officer spotted a holster -- but no gun -- through the window.  Police spokesman Patrick Saleh (SAH-luh) says officers called in the FBI and the Topeka Police bomb squad.

Saleh says the explosives were safely collected.  The owner of the vehicle was located and detained.  In a second incident at the Statehouse, a man made a threatening call to the governor’s office.  The call was traced to a local hotel, where a suspect was apprehended.  No one was hurt in either incident.
