Governor Sam Brownback is defending his administration’s decision to hire a Florida-based consultant as his computer chief. This week, Brownback announced that Jim Mann will handle information technology for the state’s executive branch. On his resume, Mann lists a degree from the University of Devonshire -- but that school isn’t accredited in the United States. Brownback says Mann wasn’t hired based on his education.
Brownback says his staff didn’t thoroughly investigate Mann’s educational background. Mann operated a consulting business and helped manage technology for McDonald's and Starbucks Coffee.
