Kan. Lawmakers Approve Small Abortion ChangesTOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas Legislature has approved abortion legislation that addresses legal issues raised in state and federal lawsuits filed by abortion providers.The Senate passed the bill Saturday on an 34-6 vote. The House had approved it Friday.The measure goes next to Governor Sam Brownback.Abortion opponents have said the bill makes minor changes in existing laws rather than setting new policy. Planned Parenthood officially is neutral on it.The bill revises a requirement that the home pages of abortion providers' websites link to a state health department site with information about pregnancy and fetal development. Providers would no longer have to say that the state's information is accurate and objective.The measure also revises language in Kansas laws on medical emergencies in which abortion restrictions are waived.==========Police Say Lawrence Bank Robber Left in CabLAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Lawrence police say a bank robber made his getaway in a waiting taxi.SergeantTrent McKinley says in a release that police responded yesterday (SAT) to a report of a robbery at a credit union. Bank employees said a man entered the bank and demanded cash from one of the tellers. The employee complied, and the suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say the robber didn't show a weapon, and no injuries were reported.Police say surveillance video shows the suspect left the bank parking lot in a taxi that had been waiting. Investigators later located the taxi driver and determined the driver wasn't involved in the robbery.Police were still seeking the suspect.========Wellington Woman Found After Reported MissingWELLINGTON, Kan. (AP) — Authorities in Sumner County say a 32-year-old Wellington woman who'd been reported missing has contacted authorities and is fine.The Sumner County Sheriff's Department had asked for the public's help Friday in locating Trina Cook, who was last seen March 26th.The sheriff's office told the Wichita Eagle that Cook apparently saw a report about herself on the news and contacted the office Saturday. The sheriff's office says she's fine. No other details were available.========KDHE says 24 Private Wells ContaminatedWICHITA, Kan. (AP) — State health officials have told residents in 24 homes in west Wichita to to stop drinking their water after authorities found a toxic dry-cleaning solvent in their private wells.The Wichita Eagle reports the Kansas Department of Health and Environment says the solvent came from former area dry cleaners.Bob Jurgens, chief of the KDHE Dry Cleaning Remediation Program, says 50 private water wells in the area have been tested, and 24 wells had concentrations of a chemical called, tetrachloroethylene, above federal standards. The EPA has classified the chemical as a likely carcinogen.KDHE says it will hold a public meeting about the problem with residents Thursday evening.Jurgens expects the number of contaminated wells to rise as crews continue sampling in the area.========Lawrence Man Has to Turn Over EvidenceLAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — A Douglas County judge has ruled that a Lawrence man accused of secretly videotaping people in a clothing store has to turn over some computer evidence.Orion Graf has pleaded not guilty to 10 felony counts of breach of privacy. His trial is set for May 14th. Authorities allege that the crimes occurred between November 2012 and February 2013.According to the state's motion, investigators reviewed about 17,000 video clips found on Graf's computers. A motion from prosecutors says an external hard drive was strongly encrypted. District Judge Sally Pokorny granted the prosecutor's motion Friday to compel Graf to turn over decrypted information stored on the hard drive.
