  • The Kansas House members have approved their version of the budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1st. It took lawmakers 14 hours to wrap up debate on the budget, which spends around 6 billion dollars in state revenue.   • An earthquake has rattled a swath of the Great Plains, from Kansas to Texas. The U.S. Geological Survey says the 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck about 7:02 this morning (SAT) about nine miles northwest of Pawnee, Oklahoma. No major damage was immediately reported.
  • A winter storm has dumped several inches of snow across Kansas and Missouri, and more is on its way. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for parts of central Kansas; most of the rest of the state remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 p.m. today (SAT).
  • The University of Kansas Jayhawks play their first game tomorrow (SAT) night. Kansas State is on the road for a game versus Iowa State Saturday morning. Kickoff is at 6. As Kansas Public Radio’s Greg Echlin reports, the Jayhawks have high hopes for their season under third-year coach Charlie Weis.
