Kansas Sees First Presumed Case of Monkeypox
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP/KPR) - Kansas health officials say they have identified the state's first presumed case of monkeypox. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Saturday that the patient is an adult resident in Johnson County who recently traveled out of state. The first presumed case in the Kansas City metro area was detected about three months ago. Most monkeypox patients experience only fever, body aches, chills, and fatigue. People with more serious illness may develop a rash and lesions on the face and hands that can spread to other parts of the body.

1,000 March in Wichita for Abortion Rights
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH/KPR) - Nearly 1,000 people marched in downtown Wichita Saturday to demonstrate in favor of abortion rights. KWCH TV reports that a voting registration event was held in connection with the March for Liberty to encourage people to vote against the state's upcoming proposed constitutional amendment. On August 2nd, Kansas will be the first state in the country to vote on the abortion issue since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. July 12th is the deadline to register to vote in the August 2nd election.

Wichita Hospital Sees Uptick in Infant Meningitis
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A meningitis outbreak in south central Kansas has sent several infants to the hospital. KWCH TV reports that pediatricians at Wesley Medical Center have seen about a dozen cases of meningitis over the past three weeks, primarily among infants three months old and younger. Meningitis is usually rare among infants.

Missouri Police Investigating Dognapping
HARRISONVILLE, Mo. (KCTV) - Police are looking for two people wanted for stealing two puppies at a Harrisonville, Missouri, gas station this week. KCTV reports that dog breeder Amanda Marquis was meeting with a potential buyer for two pit bull puppies, when two men in surgical masks stole the dogs and fled. The potential buyer also ran off. The puppies are worth about $2,000 apiece. Police say they are looking for Melanie and Donnell Mendez in connection with the incident.
