Less than two weeks after the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, pitchers and catchers for the Kansas City Royals are now reporting for spring training. This season, the Royals begin working under a new owner, John Sherman. For him, the centerpiece of the sports world wasn’t always baseball. It was football. And, as Greg Echlin reports, Sherman stays connected to it.
John Sherman, a former quarterback for Ottawa University and the new majority owner of the Royals, is scheduled to be on hand Thursday for a news conference at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City. At the news conference, officials will discuss the celebration surrounding the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Negro Leagues.
