Kansas City’s first-ever, nonstop, transatlantic flight departed to Iceland over the weekend.  While it's not mainland Europe, Bill Swelbar, chief strategist at Delta Airport Consultants says Iceland is often a connector to other European destinations.

Swelbar says the flights to Reykjavík have led to more nonstop international flights from other U.S. cities and may do so for from Kansas City International in the future.
