U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents have detained a second Lawrence resident from Bangladesh.  Forty-year-old Raju Ahmed was convicted of two felonies in Lawrence 12 years ago and is a registered sex offender.  He runs a tobacco shop.  Ahmed is reportedly married with two kids, and was pursuing citizenship, though his visa had expired.

In an unrelated case, hundreds of people in Lawrence have mobilized around another man.  Syed Jamal is a father of three and a chemistry teacher with a clean criminal record,  He's been in the Lawrence area since the 1980s. For the Kansas News Service, Frank Morris reports.
