Two recent cases involving prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney's office in Kansas City, Kansas point to a problem that some criminal defense lawyers say has been building for a long time. For years, they say, a small group of federal prosecutors in KCK has run roughshod over the rights of criminal defendants. Dan Margolies and Maria Carter of the Kansas News Service talked about this long-running, simmering discontent.

That was Dan Margolies and Maria Carter of the Kansas News Service. Yesterday (TUE), U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson ordered the U.S. government to give grand jury materials to a court-appointed official investigating the recording of attorney-client meetings at the privately-run Leavenworth Detention Center. Prosecutors have until November 21 to produce the transcripts being sought in the case. We'll continue to follow this story as more details emerge.
