It will be the end of an era in Topeka this weekend. A celebration is planned Saturday at the final regular season home basketball game of the Washburn Ichabods. The team will honor coach Bob Chipman who's retiring after 38 years as the head coach. KPR’s Greg Echlin reports that Chipman is still getting used to the idea that the end of his coaching career is almost here.
The Ichabods beat Central Oklahoma Thursday night for Chipman’s 806th career win. That ties him with another Kansas native, Eddie Sutton, for 13th on the list of all-time career victories for men’s coaches.
