Fans Remember Royals Pitcher Yordano Ventura

Royals players and managers joined others at Ventura's funeral in the Dominican Republic

Kansas City Royals fans continue to mourn the death of 25-year-old pitcher Yordano Ventura, who died early Sunday morning in a car crash in the Dominican Republic.  As Ventura was buried in his native country Tuesday, fans continued to visit a makeshift memorial at Kauffman Stadium.  Royals blogger Max Rieper says fans will likely continue to mourn Ventura’s death at this weekend’s Fan Fest.

A petition to retire Ventura’s number 30 from the lineup already has more than 7,000 signatures. A funeral for Ventura was held yesterday in his hometown in the Dominican Republic with Royals players, coaches and staff attending.
