The new report shows total farm and ranch output in Kansas is worth $65 billion.
The new report shows total farm and ranch output in Kansas is worth $65 billion.

A new report from the Kansas Department of Agriculture highlights the importance of agriculture and food processing for the state’s overall economy. Nearly 12.5 percent of the state’s workforce is related to agriculture. KDA state economist Kellen Liebsch says the report covers 66 sectors of Kansas agriculture. She says the economic impact of agriculture is not limited to just the farm sector.

The report says beef cattle ranching and farming ranks as the number one agriculture employer. Other top agricultural employers include crop production, meat processing, landscape and horticultural services.

An interactive mapallowing users to see detailed agricultural statistics for each county is located on the KDA website
