Kansas Delegation Casts Votes in Line with Caucuses

Kansas GOP leaders say delegates will unite behind nominee Trump.
Kansas GOP leaders say delegates will unite behind nominee Trump.

Kansas delegates at the Republican National Convention have voted on the party's presidential nomination in line with the state's caucus results. The Kansas delegates cast nine votes for Trump but 24 for Texas Senator Ted Cruz and six for Florida Senator. Marco Rubio. The state's delegates were allocated to the candidates based on the results of caucuses in March that Senator Cruz won. Kansas GOP rules require the delegates to vote for the candidates to which they were bound unless those candidates formally release them. Kansas Congressman Mike Pompeo is among the Kansas Republicans at the G-O-P convention in Cleveland. Pompeo says he thinks the party will unite behind Trump.

Pompeo says Republicans are realizing that electing Hillary Clinton president "is not the right direction for our country."
