A Lawrence discus thrower has qualified for the 2016 Olympics. Twenty-five-year-old Mason Finley won the discus throw yesterday (FRI) at the U.S. trials in Eugene, Oregon. Finley was an eight-time All-American while competing in track and field at the University of Kansas from 2010-2012 before transferring to the University of Wyoming. This year's trial marked Finley's first attempt to make the Olympic team. His mark at the qualifying rounds ranks him as one of the top 15 discus throwers in the world this year.
