Florida Senator Marco Rubio had help from some prominent Republicans on the Kansas campaign trail Friday. Rubio spoke to a crowd of more than 200 during a stop in Topeka just one day before the Kansas caucuses.

Rubio was joined in Topeka by Governor Sam Brownback and Senator Pat Roberts. Brownback says Rubio agrees with Kansans on major issues and can win the White House.

“He believes in the things we believe in. He’s pro-growth, he’s pro-life, he’s pro-Second Amendment. He believes in those things, they’re in his heart. He’s got a soul for this country. He’s lived the American dream. He’s got that Reagan-esque quality,” says Brownback.

Rubio focused on military and security issues, saying he’d beef up the military, support Israel and increase services for veterans. He also tapped into Kansas concerns about bringing Guantanamo Bay detainees to Fort Leavenworth.

“When I’m president of the United States, the best intelligence agencies in the world are going to find these terrorists and our rebuilt military is going to destroy them. If we happen to capture any of these terrorists alive, they’re not coming to Kansas, they’re going to Guantanamo,” says Rubio.

Rubio criticized Republican front-runner Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton during his appearance, before leaving for Wichita and Overland Park.

Republican front-runner Donald Trump has announced a rally in Wichita Saturday morning and his campaign says he will visit a caucus site. Texas Senator Ted Cruz is also planning to speak at the same caucus site during the Republican vote.
