Thousands of Hispanic activists are gathering in Kansas City this weekend. The National Council of La Raza -- the nation's largest Hispanic advocacy group -- kicked off its four day convention at Bartle Hall yesterday (SAT). Those expected to speak at the convention include Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon spoke to the group yesterday (SAT), saying he would veto a measure that would prevent illegal immigrants from receiving aid under a state scholarship program. The president of La Raza is Janet Murguia, who grew up in Kansas City, Kansas.
