A report from the Corporation for National and Community Service shows that when it comes to volunteering, Kansans rank 4th in the nation. More than 36 percent of the state's residents volunteered in 2013. Almost 790,000 volunteers donated more than 82 million hours of service, worth an estimated $1.72 billion. Michelle De La Isla, executive director of Topeka Habitat for Humanity, says those findings don't surprise her:

Opportunities for volunteering in Kansas can be found at the United We Serve website...just enter your interests and your location, and the site will provide you with ways to connect with service organizations that fit your interest.

More information and the full report are available at the Volunteering and Civic Life in America website and the Corporation for National and Community Service website.

You can connect with the United Way in your area via the United Way website

T opeka Habitat for Humanity is currently in particular need of volunteers with foreman experience.
