Parts of Kansas See Fall's First Snowfall
Wichita, Kan. (AP) - Some parts of Kansas received up to half a foot of snow this weekend in the season's first snowstorm. The National Weather Service reports six 6 inches of snow fell in the nortwest part of the state, while the Goodland area got 5 inches and eastern Hodgeman andwestern Pawnee counties received about 3 inches.

School Districts Accused of Skewing Student Numbers
Salina, Kan. (AP) - A Saline County commissioner says school districts are keeping juveniles out of detention until they've been counted as students so districts can use them to get state funds. Commissioner John Price accuses the Salina School District and other districts of keeping the students until "count day," which is the day school districts report their enrollment to the state.

Sublette Resident Wins $1 Million Lottery Prize
Sublette, Kan. (AP) - A southwest Kansas resident is a bit wealthier after winning a $1 million prize in a Powerball drawing this week. The Garden City telegram reports a Sublette resident who does not wish to be identified claimed the prize at the Kansas Lottery's office in Great Bend. The winning ticketholder bought $20 in tickets at a convenience store in Sublette. The store will get a $1,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
