Many cities -- including Lawrence, Topeka and Emporia -- are asking residents to cut back on water use as drought conditions continue. The city of Olathe is asking people to reduce lawn watering to an every-other-day schedule, and to water only in the evenings or at night. City spokesman Tim Danneberg (DAN-uh-berg) says they’ve had record water usage this month. He says they always want residents to be mindful of how much water they use, but that's especially important now.
If the hot and dry weather continues, Olathe, and other cities, could start requiring residents to conserve water.
