The heat and drought are causing water troubles for the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas. The northeast Kansas tribe uses water from the Delaware River, but the drought is causing the water level to become dangerously low. Tribal Chairman Steve Cadue (cuh-DOO) says they’re considering their options for conserving the remaining water.
Cadue says they will have to truck in water from a treatment plant in Atchison, more than 30 miles away, if conditions don’t improve.
