Resources Manager: Planning for Water Use Key to Good Stewardship

"Plan for the good, expect the worst, and hope for the best." Dane Baxa (BOX-uh), executive director of water resources for the Regional Economic Area Partnership, says those are good words to remember. Baxa (BOX-uh) says now is the time to plan how best to use the state's available water resources.

The Regional Economic Area Partnership water resources committee is meeting today (MON) at Wichita State University. Baxa (BOX-uh) says they'll discuss long-term goals for farmers, city planners, and others who rely on the state's water resources.

Committee Hopes to Maximize KS Water Resources

Water use has been an important issue in Kansas for decades. While some people believe the state could see a return to Dust Bowl-era conditions, the Regional Economic Area Partnership's water resources committee is less focused on what COULD BE than it is on how to best use the water the state already has. Dane Baxa (BOX-uh) is the executive director of that committee.
