Three Killed in, near House Fire  

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (AP) — Investigators are looking into the deaths of three people in and around a home that burned in southeastern Kansas. The Bourbon County sheriff's office confirmed yesterday that the bodies of a child and an adult were found Thursday in the wreckage of the home near Fort Scott. The body of a male was discovered in a vehicle outside the home.

Sentence Stands in Ticket Scam

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A federal judge has refused to shorten the sentence of a former University of Kansas athletics consultant caught up in a $2 million ticket scalping conspiracy. U.S. District Judge Monti Belot ruled yesterday that Thomas Blubaugh is not entitled to a reduction in his 46-month prison term.

State Creates Kaw River Tourism Board

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — State officials are hoping a newly established development committee will make new tourism and recreational opportunities flow along the Kansas River. Governor Sam Brownback was joined by officials from state and federal agencies on Thursday to announce the members of his Kansas River Development Committee.
