KU Loses to Villanova in Final Four Appearance

The University of Kansas opened the doors to Allen Fieldhouse Saturday night so thousands of Jayhawk basketball fans could watch a live broadcast of KU’s Final Four appearance. The fans did not get what they were hoping to see as KU lost to Villanova 95-79.

Kyle Babson came to the Fieldhouse toting a giant cartoon head of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, which he hoped would bring luck to the Jayhawks.

“Loyola has Sister Jean, Villanova has Father Rob, and we have the godfather of basketball himself, James Naismith,” Babson said.

But even the inventor of the game couldn’t bring KU enough luck.

Cheers from the crowd were replaced with groans as a series of 3-pointers helped Villanova take an early lead, which they held throughout the game.

KU ends the season with a 31 and 8 record. Fans left the Fieldhouse looking ahead to the next basketball season.
