Kansas Storms Leave Power Outages in Their Wake

Utility crews are working to restore power after storms rolled through Kansas last (WED) night. As of early this (THUR) afternoon, around 1600 Westar customers were still without power, mostly in the Topeka and Wichita areas. Westar spokesman Nick Bundy says downed trees and branches from high winds are responsible for many of the outages.Bundy says they hope to have power restored to customers in Shawnee and Sedgwick counties by tonight (THUR).
