Kansas Dinner Theater Cleans Up After Norovirus Outbreak

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) — A suburban Kansas City dinner theater has spent $40,000 cleaning up after a norovirus outbreak sickened more than 600 people. The Kansas City Star reports that the New Theatre Restaurant in Overland Park brought in a commercial and residential disinfecting and mold remediation company on Friday. State, city and county health officials also have talked to staff about the gastrointestinal illness, oversaw the cleanup and observed food-safety practices. Most of the people who were sickened attended the theater from January 15 to January 19. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says it has not received any reports of people becoming ill who attended the theater after January 27. The theater holds about 625 people.
