History of Midwest Deserves More Respect

The Lost Region: Toward a Revival of Midwestern History by Jon K. Lauck

Has the history of the Midwest been overlooked and underappreciated? Author John Lauck claims it has. In his new book, " The Lost Region: Toward a Revival of Midwestern History," Lauck maintains that Midwesterners deserve more respect. Commentator Rex Buchanan agrees.

Commentator Rex Buchanan is the interim director of the Kansas Geological Survey at the University of Kansas. He's also a frequent contributor to KPR's Morning Edition.

Production assistance for this commentary was provided by KPR News Intern and KU student Jeff Carmody. He rocks.
