KU Football 5-0 After ISU Win

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KPR/AP) - Kansas is now 5-0 for the first time since 2009 after defeating Iowa State Saturday, 14-11.  KU's win against the Cyclones follows last weekend's 35-27 win over Duke.  Both games were played to sold-out crowds at Kansas Memorial Stadium. KU Athletics announced that ESPN College GameDay is coming to KU for next weekend's game against TCU.  Meanwhile, the Kansas State University Wildcats beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders Saturday, 37-28

Body Found Under Topeka Bridge

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) - Topeka police have identified a man found dead under a downtown bridge. KSNT reports that 63-year-old John Grubb Jr. of Topeka was found around 8am Friday.  Police have determined that Grubbs' death was a homicide.  The investigation is continuing.

Former KU Basketball Coach Williams Inducted into Kansas Sports Hall of Fame

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCStar/KPR) - Former University of Kansas basketball coach Roy Williams is being inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Sunday.  The Kansas City Star reports that Williams is being honored for his 15 seasons as men's basketball coach at KU, a career which included nine regular-season conference titles, four trips to the Final Four, and two NCAA title games.  He went on to coach North Carolina for 18 years.  Williams is one of ten individuals in the 2022 class of inductees, which also includes baseball historian and writer Bill James of Lawrence, NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer of Emporia, and Negro Leagues Baseball All-Star Elwood "Bingo" DeMoss of Topeka.

Missouri Police Officer and Suspect Shot

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCStar) - The Clay County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left a police officer and another person wounded.  The Kansas City Star reports that the Excelsior Springs police approached a man who had a warrant out for his arrest.  He fled the scene in a truck; when they stopped the truck, he allegedly shot at police, who returned fire. The policeman was shot in the shoulder and hand; his injuries are not life-threatening.  The suspect was shot in the head; his injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Motorcyclist Killed in Independence School Bus Crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into an Independence, Missouri, school bus.  KCTV reports that the bus was making a left turn Friday when the motorcycle struck the bus. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The children and bus driver were uninjured.
