2026 Soccer Delegation Attends Attend World Cup
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Fox4KC/KPR) - As the 2022 World Cup opens this weekend, representatives from Kansas City and the other 15 cities chosen to host the next World Cup will be there. Fox 4 reports that Kathy Nelson, president and CEO of Visit KC and the Kansas City Sports Commission, says the delegation will be looking at everything from transportation and signage to media set and FIFA specifications for soccer pitches.

Sedgwick County Welcomes New Baby Chimp
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Sedgwick County Zoo is celebrating the birth of a new baby chimpanzee. KWCH reports that zoo staff is calling birth of Kucheza a "miracle" after he was delivered by an emergency caesarean section and had trouble breathing. Kucheza has since been reunited with his mother, Mahale.

LAWRENCE/MANHATTAN, Kan. (KPR) - It was a disappointing final home football game of the season for the Kansas Jayhawks. They lost to the Texas Longhorns Saturday, 55-14. Meanwhile, a trip to the Big 12 football championship game will be on the line for Kansas State when it hosts the Jayhawks next weekend. The Wildcats positioned themselves for a potential title game by beating West Virginia on the road Saturday, 48-31. In the NCAA Division 2 playoffs, Pittsburg State remains undefeated this season after blanking the University of Indianapolis, 35-0. Next up for the Gorillas is a road game against Ferris State in Michigan, the defending national champion in Division 2.
