Gov.-Elect Slashes Inaugural Ball Ticket Prices After Questions

Governor-elect Laura Kelly’s inaugural committee is cutting ticket prices for the ball to be held after she’s sworn into office. Questions had been raised about a $10,000 ticket package. That’s five times the legal maximum donation of $2,000.

In a statement, the Kelly campaign says Kansas regulators had approved the Democrat’s initial plan for a package of 10 tickets at $10,000. But the Associated Press called attention to the prices, and staff at the Governmental Ethics Commission conducted further research.

Now, the most expensive package will include 10 tickets for $3,000. The Governmental Ethics Commission has said the new ticket prices should sort out any confusion over how to apply state regulations.
