Cutting State Funds for Public Broadcasting is a Bad Idea

Kansas may soon eliminate state funding for public broadcasting. Governor Sam Brownback had threatened to eliminate money for public radio and TV stations this year, but didn't. Next year, however, it's all but certain that state funding for public broadcasting will disappear. Guest commentator Gwyn (Gwen) Mellinger (MELL-ing-ur) says cutting-off state funds for public broadcasting would be a mistake.

Guest Commentator Gwyn (Gwen) Mellinger (MELL-ing-ur) is Chair of the Mass Media Department at Baker University in Baldwin City. She also writes a column for the Topeka Capital Journal and for Insight Kansas.
