Retro Cocktail Hour is kicking off this season of warm weather with a tiki-themed Cinema a Go-Go night on May 3 at 7 p.m. at Liberty Hall in Lawrence. Don’t miss this exotic night of back-to-back tiki features.
We will kick off the night with the classic universal monster movie, Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). Inspired by an Amazon River legend, the film was a smash hit in its original 3D version and spawned two sequels, Revenge of the Creature (1955) and The Creature Walks Among Us (1956).
But wait, there's more! Up next, The Beach Girls and the Monster (aka Monster from the Surf), a strange horror and beach party hybrid. An aquatic monster is killing teenagers on the beach, or is something else going on? This one was directed by and stars Jon Hall, TV's Ramar of the Jungle and star of many adventure films in the 1940s.
General Admission tickets are $10 and are available for purchase at the Liberty Hall box office. Throw on your best tiki-inspired garb, and we will see YOU at the theatre!
