The Laramie Project
The Laramie Project
The true story of a town and a murder that captivated a nation. With a set reflective of the sparse Wyoming prairie where Matthew Shepard was found beaten, abandoned and near-death, this production reveals what hate can do to a community and gives reverence to the two years of interviews Tectonic Theater Company members conducted with Laramie residents. The crime redefined the town’s image to its own citizens and to the world. This unique retelling shows community members reckoning with their own perceptions and biases. The play is an example of theatre’s ability to hold up a mirror, touch hearts, and change minds.
