In this talk, Fireflies of the Sea: Complex Bioluminescence in the Caribbean, Dr. Rivers will discuss how bioluminescence is used in the ocean, primarily focusing on ostracods. These small crustaceans are found in nearly all aquatic systems, but a special group in the Caribbean has evolved the ability to use bioluminescence in courtship patterns that are, in most cases, more complex than even those of fireflies
