Upcoming concert of Alejandro Brittes Trio and Ensemble Ibérica: "Chamamé: The Spirit of the South American Missions" on July 17th at 7pm in the Atkins Auditorium of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art located at 4525 Oak St., Kansas City, MO 64111. They will be performing original works of Brittes´ "(L)Este" concert.
Alejandro Brittes interprets chamamé, a music and dance genre forged of Baroque and Indigenous Guaraní influences in the Jesuit Missions of southern South America encompassing Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, etc. Chamamé has been declared as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Brazil-based Argentine composer and accordionist Alejandro Brittes explores his chamamé heritage. Brittes recently toured the U.S. in 2024 being featured at Stanford Live, TOArts, Music in Corrales, San José Jazz, etc. The ensemble also does multilingual community outreach, masterclasses, etc.
Trio is composed of Alejandro Brittes (accordion), André Ely (seven-stringed guitar), and Carlos de Césaro (contrabass).

Brittes is touring the U.S. in June/July 2025, being featured at The Cedar in Minneapolis (in collaboration with Havana Quartet and Son de Cuerdas), International Accordion Kings in Lafayette, LA presented by Steve Riley, Lotus Education and Arts in Bloomington, IN, A World of Accordions Museum, etc. They will be doing a collaboration with Ensemble Ibérica in Kansas City, and also with Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
