Daniel shares experiences from a life well-lived in places as far-ranging as Okinawa, Japan, and Padre Island, Texas. This balladeer/songwriter with the friendly tenor brings his well-crafted story songs to happy audiences coast-to-coast and in Europe in over 100 shows a year, from House Concerts and listening rooms to major festivals. Author Jane Mayer, Saturday, November 12, in KCMO

The Truman Library Institute’s 10th annual Howard & Virginia Bennett Forum on the Presidency is just days after the election, on Saturday, Nov. 12. This year’s featured guest is Jane Mayer, author of Dark Money. She’ll be joined by Douglas Brinkley, CNN’s presidential historian, and TIME Editor-at-Large David Von Drehle, Saturday, Nov. 12, at Unity Temple on the Plaza.

KPR’s Big Band Christmas, Saturday, December 10, in Lawrence

Get ready for a cool Yule when KPR presents a  Big Band Christmas, our holiday concert served up by the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra and special guest vocalists Kathleen Holeman and Ron Gutierrez. Formed in 2003, the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra brings many of the region's greatest jazz musicians together to perform big band jazz in a concert setting. The KCJO is under the direction of Clint Ashlock, Kansas City native and trumpeter.​ Performance at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St. in downtown Lawrence. Showtime is 8 p.m.
