A: in the town of Hope, Kan.
(Photo via Stoneworx Custom Engraved Signs) The tiny town of Hope is located in Dickinson County. The city was incorporated in 1886. Today, fewer than 400 people call Hope home, but at one time, more than 700 people lived here – including Dwight D. Eisenhower’s dad. David Jacob Eisenhower lived on a ranch near town and operated a general store in Hope in the 1880s. The town’s motto is: "There will always be Hope in Kansas." You can see this message, carved into limestone, on a city sign. |
