Dennis Hopper was born on May 17, 1936, in Dodge City, Kansas. During his life, Hopper became an actor, filmmaker, photographer and artist. He appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, including two films with James Dean. In 1969, Hopper directed and starred in Easy Rider, for which he received an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (as co-writer). Film critics point to E asy Rider as an iconic cinematic symbol of the 1960s.Hopper died in 2010, at the age of 74. He's buried near Taos, New Mexico.

Fun factoid: After World War II, Hopper's family moved from Dodge City to Kansas City, Missouri, where the young Dennis Hopper attended classes at the Kansas City Art Institute.
