Kansas Public Radio has been named the 2018 Station of the Year by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. It’s the 17th time KPR has earned the KAB’s top honor. The award, announced August 8, was first presented by the KAB in 1996. KPR has won the award more than any other radio (or TV) station in the state. KPR won a number of individual awards, which helped the station capture the overall Station of the Year award. The individual awards include five 1st Place awards, three 2nd Place awards and one Honorable Mention award.

KPR News Director J. Schafer said, “While awards are just one measurement of success, it is particularly gratifying to have your work recognized by your peers in the industry, in this case, out-of-state judges. Hopefully, this kind of recognition will translate into more listeners and more KPR members.” The KAB will hand out the awards in October at its annual convention.
