KPR Launches Book Club with "Ladybird, Collected"

book_club_-_lady_bird.jpg

KPR is kicking off our first ever book club with Ladybird, Collected by Meg Heriford, owner of the Ladybird Diner in downtown Lawrence. You can sign up here for our virtual conversation with Meg Heriford at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31.

Ladybird, Collected is a collection of essays building connections with the diners that have walked in and out of Ladybird Diner's doors over the years. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Meg has transformed Ladybird into a community kitchen providing free lunches to anyone in need. All proceeds from book sales support their free lunch program.

Our book club host, Kaye McIntyre shares, "I'm so excited to have Ladybird, Collected as our first read. Meg is a really gifted writer and the story behind the book is such a compelling one. As we begin to build our KPR Presents Book Club community, who better to feature than this big-hearted woman who builds community with her food every single day?"

You can buy the book at Raven Book Store or at Ladybird Diner's page.

Please submit any questions or comments you have for the author here. We hope you can join us virtually for the event on Wednesday, March 31, at 7 p.m.

This event requires access to a Zoom account. You can download Zoom here. In order to view the meeting properly, make sure to download the latest version of Zoom even if you already have Zoom. Once you are in the meeting, you will need to make sure you have selected Speaker View in order to see just the speakers during the event. When you get to the Zoom download page, you will select "Zoom client for meetings." Once you have that downloaded, open the app and create your Zoom account - that way you'll be ready to go for the event on March 31!
