About the host: Michael Keelan:
Michael Keelan grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, as the only junior high student in town to call and win public radio quizzes. He played the violin on the state's NPR network in high school, going on to earn degrees in music from Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio and the University of Maryland-College Park.
He has been on the string faculty of the Wausau (WI) Conservatory and Concordia University (NE). He particularly enjoys working with youth orchestras and has adjudicated the Nebraska All-State and Omaha Area Youth Orchestras, besides conducting one in Green Bay.
His orchestra memberships have included the Fairfax (VA), Omaha, and Green Bay Symphonies, in the latter ensemble as concertmaster for seven years. He hosted Nebraska Concerts on NET, Nebraska's NPR network.
