The Death of Dr. George Tiller: Five Years Later

(Choices Medical Clinic. Photo credit: Sean Sandefur)

On May 31, 2009, a man walked into the lobby of a Wichita church and shot Dr. George Tiller in the head, killing him.  Five years later, South Wind Women's Center is offering abortion services in the same building where Dr. Tiller worked.  Next door is a right-to-life clinic called Choices.  The clinics are separated by a cedar fence -- and much more.  "Crossing the Fence" is a documentary produced by KMUW in Wichita, featuring a conversation between Julie Burkhart, executive director of South Wind Women's Center, and Dr. Scott Stringfield, medical director of Choices Medical Clinic.  "Crossing the Fence" is produced and hosted by KMUW news director Aileen LeBlanc.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
