Q: This actor and martial arts expert spent some of his childhood in Kansas. As a teenager, he lived in Prairie Village. His given name is “Carlos” but you probably know him better by another name. What IS the name of this man - who was named “Fighter of the Year” by Black Belt Magazine in 1969? (Chuck Norris Fan Art via obscurekid) |
A: Chuck Norris
Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris was born on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Okla. When Norris was 16, his parents divorced and he later relocated to Prairie Village, Kan. Eventually, he moved to California with his mother and brothers. Norris claims he was shy and non-athletic as a child. He served in the Air Force and became interested in the martial arts while serving in South Korea. After being discharged, he opened a chain of Karate schools. He began his acting career in 1969 and has been appearing in movies and on TV ever since. Some fans know him best for his role on the TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger.” Norris also endorses a number of products. We’re not sure if he’s the toughest man who ever lived, but the Internet is full of outlandish and over-the-top stories about the larger-than-life fighting skills and seemingly bad attitude of Chuck Norris. But his friends say he’s a really nice guy! |
