UPDATED! History vs. Wrecking Ball at Marysville

Old Union Pacific Depot, built in 1929, in Marysville, Kan. (Photo Courtesy of Marysville Advocate) UPDATE: The Marysville City Council voted 5-2 Monday night to approve the purchase of the old Union Pacific depot and related railroad property.

In its heyday, the old Union Pacific train depot in Marysville, Kan., was a showpiece -- beautiful and ornate. But after 85 years, the now vacant structure has fallen into disrepair. One local group hopes to save the depot from the wrecking ball and restore it to its former glory. Whether that can happen depends on what action the city council takes when it meets later tonight (MON). KPR's J. Schafer has more.

Tonight's (MON) city council meeting in Marysville begins at 7 o'clock.
