President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing his government to roll back an environmental rule opposed by farm groups in Kansas and throughout the Midwest. Harvest Public Media’s Kristofor Husted reports.
President Trump said he is "paving the way for the elimination" of the rule. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins of the Kansas 2nd District says the rollback was necessary because the rule would put unnecessary burdens on farmers and other landowners.
But supporters of the regulation say overturning the rule isn't something that can be done through executive order. The Natural Resources Defense Council says the EPA will have to restart a lengthy rule-making process. Supporters say the regulation is needed to ensure safe drinking water.
