The Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics meet tonight (TUE) at Kauffman Stadium in a match-up of the two teams that won wild card berths in the American League this season. The Royals are counting on their best starting pitcher as they named James Shields to take the assignment. Kansas Public Radio’s Greg Echlin has the story.

Royals Playoff Special to Native Kansan on Team Roster

Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Aaron Crow is a native Kansan, and a graduate of Washburn Rural High School in Topeka. Crow says his personal history has given him a special appreciation for the team's playoff appearance:

This year's team HAS put it all together, though...reaching the playoffs for the first time since winning the World Series in 1985. Tonight (TUE), the Royals play the Oakland A's in a wildcard matchup. The team that loses will be finished for the season. The game begins at 7:07 pm.
