More people in the Midwest are hitting the road this holiday week than at any other point in the past seven years. That's according to the Triple-A travel forecast for Thanksgiving. Jim Hanni (HAY-nee) is a spokesman for Triple-A.
Cheaper prices at the pump are helping to fuel the increase in holiday travel, with the average cost of gas in Kansas now at $2.67 a gallon. Hanni (HAY-nee) says nearly four million highway travelers are expected in just one part of the Midwest -- the region that includes Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and the Dakotas.
The two busiest travel days of the year are typically the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after the holiday.
