Accountability. It means taking responsibility for an action or result. Lately, it’s taken on a new connotation in the field of health care. The Affordable Care Act provides a way for health care networks to get bonus payments by providing better care, and keeping Medicare patients healthier. As Heartland Health Monitor’s Bryan Thompson explains, these Accountable Care Organizations are about to have a larger presence in Kansas.

Maryland Company Partnering with Kansas Doctors to form ACO

A new partnership hopes to reduce the cost of caring for Kansans on Medicare by keeping them healthier—and to share in the savings that result. Heartland Health Monitor’s Bryan Thompson explains.

Bryan Thompson has been KPR's Health Reporter since 2000. He's a lifelong Kansan, and a graduate of Wichita State University. He's been involved in radio news longer than he'd care to admit, serving as news director at stations in El Dorado, Liberal, and Salina before joining KPR. He and his wife, Cindy, are the parents of six outstanding children--one of whom now looks down on them from above. In his spare time, Bryan enjoys music and sports.
