A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck northern Oklahoma yesterday (TUE) morning, hitting the same area where a record-setting quake was centered a month ago. On Labor Day weekend, people in at least six states were rattled out of bed by a much larger quake in roughly the same spot. Commentator Rex Buchanan, who served on a Kansas earthquake task force, says that quake wasn't the first in the nation's mid-section... and likely won't be the last.
Commentator Rex Buchanan just retired as director of the Kansas Geological Survey, based at the University of Kansas. He's now director emeritus. Buchanan also led the governor's task force to study earthquakes in Kansas.
