One of the Kansas Legislature’s leading opponents of the federal health reform law is backing a bill that would tighten the regulation of enrollment counselors. Senator Mary Pilcher Cook, a Shawnee Republican, says the bill is needed to protect Kansas consumers. But as Jim McLean of the KHI News Service reports, others say the measure would make it harder for the counselors, known as navigators, to do their work.
